Here are all the highlights since Shehbaz Sharif has come into elected power as Pakistan’s new prime minister. The PML(N) politician came into power on Monday, following the removal of Imran Khan in a vote of no confidence.

In his first address as prime minister in the National Assembly, after congratulating his fellows on the peaceful transition of power, Sharif announced an increase in salaries, pensions and the minimum wage for labourers.

Next, the focus has been the foreign-policy of Pakistan. Sharif has said he will expedite the multibillion-dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and rebuild broken ties with partners and allies, including efforts to bridge ties with India and UK so far.

“We want good relations with India but there cannot be sustainable peace unless the issue of Kashmir is resolved,” he said. Sharif invited the Indian PM to help solve the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations resolutions.

He has also ordered a feasibility report into on expanding the network of Metro Bus System to other areas of the Capital, expressing concern over the previous delays in the project saying “Metro Bus project from Peshawar Morr to Airport is still incomplete after 5 years. Have ordered inquiry into delay & quick completion of remaining work. ” Alongside this, Shehbaz Sharif has also announced free metro services for the citizens of Islamabad during the month of Ramzan.
