In a decisive move to uphold child protection laws, a local court in Mian Channu has ordered seven members of a single family, including the groom, to be sent to jail following a raid on an underage marriage ceremony. The legal action stems from a First Information Report (FIR) registered on the complaint of the underage girl’s mother. According to police officials, the groom, identified as Mubashir Kamal, was apprehended alongside his father and brothers. The prosecution has leveled serious charges against the accused, invoking legal sections related to abduction and the Child Marriage Restraint Act.

Police officials have confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway to penalize all those who facilitated the illegal union. They are also conducting raids across various locations to arrest the marriage officiant(nikkah khwan) and the individuals who stood as formal witnesses for the bride.

The police have stated that they are committed to a zero-tolerance policy regarding the exploitation of minors, and every individual involved, whether it’s the one who organized the event or those who provided legal cover through witnessing the contract, will be brought to justice. The seven suspects remain in judicial custody as police continue their search for the remaining accomplices to ensure they face the full weight of the law.
