Pakistan takes center stage as it announces a ceasefire between the United States and Iran after the ongoing war intensified. Posting on X, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, stated that both countries will observe an immediate ceasefire while negotiations take place. He posted:

He also announced that Pakistan would host the #IslamabadTalks to negotiate a conclusive end to the current war situation. The negotiations will take place on April 10, 2026, in the capital with the hope that peace and stability will be restored in the region.

With the announcement in place, the Foreign Minister of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, issued a statement saying that Iran will observe the two-week ceasefire requested by Pakistan and that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened effectively. He added that a 10-point proposal for negotiations has also been shared with the United States via Pakistan. He appreciated the efforts of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir to restore diplomacy and peace in the Middle East. He posted on X:
