In a podcast with FHM Pakistan, Fakhir Mehmood has come to defend Fawad Khan as a judge in Pakistan Idol by telling that Fawad Khan was initially a musician before his claim to famein acting through Khuda Ke Liye. He added that Fawad Khan had a successful music career as a lead singer in Entity Paradigm(EP) band and also sang a PSL anthem. He criticised people for speaking up against him without knowing about his successful music career. People must give respect and consider his contribution in the music industry, he said.
He also added that the term idol comes with a whole package which Fawad justifies as he is a great addition to the show’s line up. He is the rightful judge of Pakistan Idol among the panel of best singers; Rahet Fateh Ali Khan, Bilal Maqsood and Zeb Bangash.
In this outburst of criticism for Fawad Khan, many have supported him including an influencer Mysta Paki, who made a video about Fawad Khan’s presence in the Pakistani music scene in the 2000s.

Calling himself a mellenial, he shared Fawad Khan’s was a part of the rock band EP who reigned the music industry of 2000s. They were also the runners up for the Pepsi Battle of the Bands in 2002. Their top hits included; Hamesha, Waqt and Aagosh.
