Actress Alizeh Shah spoke about struggles she faced while working as an actress in the Pakistani entertainment industry and shed light over the struggle regarding payment issues as well as unprofessional behaviour she had witnessed during meetings with production houses.
The actress reflected on how she often had to beg to get her payments on time, and this was one of the factors that led her to stop working in dramas.
“We get a check for one drama after three months, and that too after a lot of begging and pleading,” said Alizeh in the video. “Literally you have to beg people to pay you for your hard work. And when you receive the check you’re made to feel as if you’ve been given a favour. This is the main reason why I have stopped working.”
Alizeh Shah went on to say that when she tried requesting heads to send her payments on time, in return she was told to be grateful for working with a huge production. “Jahan kaam mein izzat nahi hai wahan aap kya hi kaam karo ge,” remarked Alizeh.

The ‘Taqdeer’ actress further recalled how during meetings, directors would bring up the bad publicity she was getting in the media and questioned why they should hire her. “Aap ye mujh se sawal puchnay walay hotay kaun ho kay meri image kharab hai?” questioned Alizeh. “Why are you calling me in meetings? They disrespect you in a way that shatters you. After that saying you’re doing me a huge favour, making it as if I committed some sin?”
“I only want respect and my payments to be delivered on time,” stressed Alizeh Shah. “If you can’t do that, then there is no bigger fraud than you for gobbling up the hard earned money of actors and building houses with them.”
