A man had accidentally been flown by a PIA airline to Jeddah from Lahore, when he was actually bound for Karachi.
The passenger, Malik Shahzain Ahmed, did not have a passport or a visa with him at the time. He was travelling to Karachi through Air Sial but instead landed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Ahmed recounted that he was briefly detained by Jeddah authorities for not having a passport, but once they realised the misunderstanding they boarded the man on a flight back to Lahore.
The passenger stressed that the entire debacle was not his fault at all. “It wasn’t my fault. The airline should now arrange for me to reach Karachi.” He said the airline was now asking him to pay to get another ticket to Karachi.
The Pakistan Aviation Authority had released a statement to address the blunder, saying that they have reached out to the civil aviation regulator to fine the airline for this irresponsible behaviour.
“In the letter, the civil aviation regulator has been requested to impose a heavy fine on the airline that is guilty of negligence.”
