Actress Saman Ansari was a guest on the FHM podcast where she was asked about her views on the controversy surrounding Danish Taimoor, whose comments regarding multiple marriages had sparked outrage.
The actress stressed that if a man wishes to re-marry again, then he should ensure that his wife is also comfortable with the decision and is aware of it before their betrothal.
“There are some women who make it clear on their nikkahnama that their husband is not allowed to marry other women while they’re together. Otherwise the decision is between them.”
Giving her own example, the ‘Fairy Tale’ actress revealed that she was married for 15 years, and after her divorce the ex husband had gone on to get married for the second time. Saman Ansari explained she did not find anything wrong in the situation as the marriage had happened after their divorce, and she had worked on her career for a while and then got re-married herself.

“I don’t see anything wrong in getting a divorce and re-marrying, but however the situation is different when you’re marrying another woman while already wedded to someone else because there are incredibly specific clauses in our religion that allow such things to happen. This is between the couple who wishes to make that choice.”
“As far as I know, a man has to require consent from his first wife if he wishes to re-marry,” continued Ansari, “and it is his duty to ensure that he treats each wife equally.”
When the host pushed further, Saman joked “Men can’t handle one marriage how are they supposed to handle multiple wives?”

Speaking further on about her divorce and working as a single mother, Saman Ansari shared a wholesome memory of how her second husband won her heart. She revealed that many men used to approach her for dates after finding out that she was divorced. But it was her current husband who valued how much Saman’s child had meant to her, and had asked him for the permission to marry his mother.
“My current husband knew that I had a son and he asked him for permission to marry me. My son was excited and happy because he knew that I would no longer be alone. It meant a big deal to me because this was his first marriage. To accept a woman that you’re in love with but also take in her son, hats off to my husband.”
