Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane’s Bollywood film ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ has gained a new fan base in India as the re-release continues to storm the box office even a week later.
The film was released in 2016 starring Hocane as the awkward librarian Saraswati, who meets Inder (played by Indian actor Harshvardhan Rane), an ex-convict who falls in love with her but a tragedy soon stops their path. The film was originally met with positive reviews from film critics and made around $540,000 dollars on the first day of its release.
The re-release of the film has been incredibly succesful, with the Indian Express reporting that on the first day of it’s re-release, ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ had earned over Rs 4.25 crore which was more than three times than it’s original box office collection. On the second day, the film’s box office collection jumped to Rs 5 crore.
The Indian actor Rane has praised Mawra for giving her soul to the film, as he shared and Instagram post of his visit to a cinema where fans were praising the performances both actors had given.

The ‘Jafaa’ actress also thanked her Indian fans for showering so much love and dedication to her film as she shared a reel on her Instagram stories, where a cinema in India was filled with a packed audience who were watching ‘Sanam Teri Kasam.
‘This is insane guys!” Mawra wrote. “I hear we’re making some records! House is full everywhere!! Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou #sanamterikasam Love you all so much!”
The filmmaker behind ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ has confirmed the sequel and said the script is ready, with Rana coming back to star in the lead role. The film is expected to release on Valentines Day next year.
