Actor Faysal Quraishi was a guest on a YouTube platform where he shared some blunt opinions about the changes needed to Pakistani award shows, that continue to award actors with a bigger social media following than others.
The ‘Fitoor’ actor said that award shows should stop awarding actors based on the ratings given by audiences, and instead invite a jury of experts who could provide a more sound judgement on which actor deserves recognition for their performance.
“There shouldn’t be any award shows that work on the opinions of audiences,” remarked the actor. “Throughout the world, there aren’t any award shows that only recognize those actors because of the audience’s vote.”
Giving an example of Hollywood, Faysal mentioned how actors like Chris Hemsworth and Dwayne Johnson had a huge following on social media, but he is not regarded as a better actor than Al Pacino or Robert De Niro. He further explained that this is how actors who have a large number of followers on social media are able to bag all of the awards, rather than the performers who deserved recognition.
