In a surprising twist of events, British musician behind ‘Pink Floyd’ Roger Waters has joined the international call to release former Prime Minister Imran Khan from prison.
In a post on Instagram, the ‘How I Wish You Were Here’ singer addressed the note to ‘the military rulers of Pakistan and their masters in Washington’. The caption was posted along with a video of the former primer minister with pictures of his cricket era. He wrote:
“My name is Roger Waters. I am an English musician and a passionate supporter of fair play. What you are doing in Pakistan is not Cricket.
Imran Khan @imrankhan.pti must be immediately released from his false imprisonment so that he can lead his party the PTI in a new fair and transparent election so that Pakistan can have a properly elected democratic government that actually represents the will of the people of Pakistan. Not the interests of foreign and domestic oligarchs.”
Imran Khan is currently serving his 14 year prison sentence along with his wife Bushra bibi, after a court declared their nikkah to be against Islamic values.
