Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got divorced in 2016 which had shocked the world, but now Brad Pitt is suing Angelina for allegedly tarnishing his reputation and their shared wine company by selling her shares to a stranger with poisonous intentions.

Back in 2008, both Jolie and Pitt had bought shares in a French wine company called Chateau Miraval for a reported amount of 25 million Euros, and the company’s vineyard had served as the location of their wedding held in 2014. Both of the actors had agreed to divide the ownership between them 60/40, and had reportedly pledged that they won’t sell their shares of the company without consulting each other first.

However, in September 2020 Brad Pitt had accused Jolie for refusing to consult him before selling out her 50% stake without giving him the option to purchase or refuse the sale. But Angelina was able to sell her Miraval shares to a third party which was revealed to be the Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler. Brad Pitt had filed a legal complaint a few days ago where he revealed that the sale was made without his consent. In legal documents that were filed last week, Pitt’s lawyers claimed that Jolie had sought to damage her ex-husband’s reputation by purposely keeping him in the dark about the sale and in doing so violated Pitt’s contractual rights.

The document also further claims that the third party who has purchased Angelina’s shares, Shefler, “has gained notoriety through cut-throat business tactics and dubious professional associations”, and by allowing him to have control over Miraval would damage the reputation of the French business that Brad Pitt had worked hard to build up.

“Jolie knew and intended that Shefler and his associates would try to control the business Pitt had built and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval”, the document read. “All of this is a direct result of Jolie’s unlawful and tortious conduct.”

To make up for these damages, Brad Pitt and his lawyers requested for a trial by jury which would seek an amount for the damages done by this decision, and for Angelina Jolie’s purported sale to be considered “null and void”.
