Top Gun: Maverick has taken over the world by storm. After a series of major blockbuster films failing to live up to their standards with disappointing sequels, Top Gun changes the turf by producing a promising comeback. Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski. Set 36 years after the original movie , it follows Maverick’s return to the “Top Gun”, where he has to confront his past as well as train a group of younger fighter pilots, including the son of Maverick’s late friend Goose.
The movie ticks all the boxes that make a film a blockbuster. A solid main lead, gripping plot, convincing acting, the right quotient of emotion and a dash of romance. If all of these reasons are not good enough then Tom Cruise sporting his vintage jacket with his iconic aviators on a sports bike is a reason enough to make you book the tickets for the movie. TMI: Tom Cruise wore the same jacket in the first movie as well! Is the man a vampire? We are positive.

The movie also serves as an example for film makers who continue to produce movies that are unable to provide us with a wholesome cinematic experience. Thirty six years later the movie tops North American box office again and rightly so.
Brownie points for the dreamy song ‘Hold my hand’ by Lady Gaga overwhelming us with a warm, fuzzy and nostalgic feeling.
Two hour 17 minutes of pure goodness. Get ready to be blown away (pun intended).
