CII says transgender law ‘not in line with Shariah’
The incident occurred hours after the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) publicly announced its objections over the transgender law prevalent in Pakistan. The CII declared that the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act is “not in line with the Shariah”, as “several provisions of the act are inconsistent with Islamic principles.
The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) in a statement on the said bill issued on Tuesday said that

The decision came after Senator Mushtaq Ahmed of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) raised objections to the law, followed by a commotion on social media against the said legislation. The CII, warned that the act may lead to “new social problems” and asked the government to form a committee to review the law related to the transgender community.
Meanwhile, debates around transgender identity, protection and laws continues to dominate the country’s news and media outlets, as people continue to give their two-cents on the topic.
People are talking about every other person in #Transgenderlaw other than the people this law is actually for. People can see them killed but can’t see them getting the rights they deserve. https://t.co/BTaBArGjzF

People are taking this #TransgenderLaw as fun but it’s a quiet serious state because #Pakistan was a country that was once standing against #LGBTQ but now this creep has entered in #Pakistan. Kindly protest against this (digital war). Imagine Doomsday#saynotolgtb #saynotolgtbq
