Even though celebrities and sports players are public figures, they still have a right to maintain control over their privacy and can choose not to answer questions that they are not comfortable talking about. Twitter users were quick to remind this to critics when a video began circulating online where Hassan Ali was seen refusing to answer the question of a journalist whom he had criticized online for spreading false rumors about him. “First go and tweet something good, and then we will answer your questions” the sports star was seen replying to the repeated attempts of the journalist.
The user who shared this tweet criticized Hassan for displaying “childish behavior” because of his refusal to listen to the journalist. However, twitter users quickly came to the sportsman’s defense by pointing out that Hassan had not been rude with the journalist and had politely refused him, despite the journalist consistently badgering for a response. Also, they defended the cricket star’s right to refuse to answer questions from someone whom he did not feel comfortable with.
I think he has the right not to answer any question from someone he feels uncomfortable with. The fact that he displayed hai intent of not answering should be enough. What the journalist was doing afterwards was pestering. You are not obliged to answer every question. https://t.co/y7yUibtC2T

Well done 👍🏽 @RealHa55an – if someone gets personal even on social media. You have every right to avoid them. No journalist is allowed to get personal – he should not apologise. There was nothing wrong in his behaviour. https://t.co/aHt79cUpMz

If he does not want to answer a question it’s his right – journalists are not be a thug bullies – they can ask a question and the responder has the equal right to refuse – Hassan Ali perfectly handled https://t.co/RHCmk8VxlZ
